Cappuccino vs Latte vs Flat White and More

Mystified about the differences between Cappuccino, Latte, Flat White, and other coffee drinks? It’s all explained in this great video from European Coffee Trip

Aleš Pospíšil divides espresso drinks into “Black coffee and milk coffee”

Black Coffee includes:

  • Single Espresso
  • Double Espresso
  • Americano
  • Lungo
  • Filtered Coffee

Milk Coffee includes:

  • Macchiato
  • Cortado or Piccolo
  • Flat White
  • Cappuccino
  • Café Latte

Pospíšil makes the point that these definitions vary around the world and are not rigid recipes. Some of the big corporate coffee companies are especially fond of using these names in new and confusing ways, as well as making up new names that sound traditional but really aren’t! (See “Frappuccino“)
